Grocery Store Wars

Our Sunday funny this week is Grocery Store Wars - a 5-minute video about buying organic, based on Star Wars. It's right up my street. Hope you enjoy it, too.

But if you don't - why not? If you'd prefer a video that's not as funny but actually contains some persuasive information and arguments about how our shopping choices affect the environment, try The Story of Stuff. Alternatively, if you'd prefer really funny videos about Star Wars set in a supermarket without the irritating environmental message, try Chad Vader.

Cartoon from Climate Cartoons. Click on the panel to read the whole strip.

I found the second of your links very interesting. It took a while to download properly, but it turned out to be worth the wait and attendant frustration.

Thanks for posting Mel - all of us here have learned something today.

As for loft insulation - if the initial outlay weren't so prohibitive (bearing in mind that we'd have to strip the attic completely to get at the roof) I'd do it in a flash. The attic's like an oven in summer and we could freeze vegetables in it in winter. I've been jotting various implausible ideas for doing the job more easily on envelope backs for years now.

*love* the Grocery Wars video. I'd already seen the Story of Stuff, and it's good stuff (pun intended). But the organic spoof of Cuke Skywalker. Thanks, you made my night!

I try to buy as much organic groceries as possible and what we don't we try to buy local and/or in bulk. Some things however we just can't afford to buy organic.

Hi Mel - LOL, I just love the Grocery Wars...what a treat, Thank You.

I also want to say a proper thank you for your advice at the beginning of my Rubbish Diet challenge. I am very grateful because it had a great impact on the fact that, with the exception of one first-aid plaster, I have successfully gone for a week without sending anything to landfill. More info is up on the site, where I have officially thanked you.

Keep up the great work Mel, you really are an inspiration!

Hiya Mel. I'm in a ground floor flat, so have no 'loft' to insulate. But, I lay in bed last night wondering wether we had a jacket on our boiler. So that's gonna be my job this week, to go and have a look.
I was also amazed reading earlier about the effect fluff on the vents on the back of your fridge has to it's efficiency.
