Manor Gardens Allotments Safe (For Now)

Here at bean-sprouts we have been following closely the story about Manor Gardens Allotments in London. The 100-year-old allotments are due to be bulldozed in just a few weeks to create a footpath serving the Olympic site, which will be used for just 4 weeks.

There is good news today - planning permission has been rejected. However the development agency is expected to appeal against the decision, so the allotments are not out of the woods yet.

If you haven't yet done so, please sign the petition to save Manor Gardens Allotments. And keep watching this space.

that's fantastic news. If there's anythingmore we can do to support it, let us know.

Thanks for the update!

Great news! Let's hope that if there should be an appeal, it would go the same way!

Great to see all the support, trouble is, under the Olympics legislation the London Development Agency appear entitled to evict the plotholders without notice or a replacement site, and with the replacement site appeal taking up to a year, they may just clear the site and and shrug off the protests with the usual 'the Olympics will be a huge long term benefit to the community'. Check lifeisland.org for news, if you email (info@) we'll put you on the mailing list for ways to help eg. planning objection.

Thanks, Charlie. I have added the lifeisland.org link to my "Interesting Links" Section, and I have subscribed to the mailing list. Good luck with the campaign. I will continue to follow it, and will help in any way I can.
